Review: Zebra Airfit LT Mechanical Pencil

The Zebra Airfit LT is an affordable mechanical pencil with a unique grip. It features a lightweight plastic body with a low center of gravity for optimal writing experience. For the low $5 price point, this pencil is a fantastic option for students and those looking for something comfortable and reliable.
This mechanical pencil feels lower-end but remains satisfying to use with a low center of gravity and a low pitch, smoother click. It has minor branding on the clip and is nice to look at.

The design of the clicker is very similar to the Zebra DelGuard. The caps may be identical – I was able to swap the one from the Airfit with the DelGuard and I didn't notice any differences in tolerance. However, the clicking mechanism on the Airfit has much less resistance than that on the DelGuard, making it easier to advance lead.

The special part of this pencil lies in the grip. The mechanical pencil features a transparent rubberized grip with air pockets to make a more pleasant writing experience. It feels soft without being too mushy and Zebra struck a good balance between precision and comfortability.
Honestly, this design and overall execution somewhat remind me of Nike Air Max shoes. In both, air pockets are visible and can provide a level of comfort, but don't compromise on stability.

The Zebra Airfit's tip has a bit of weight to it and moves the center of gravity down. To give a reference point on how the weight is distributed, the small metallic-tone ring behind the grip is around where the center of gravity is located when the pencil is fully assembled.

I haven't experienced any issues with this pencil during my few weeks of testing. It seems reliable and worth its low price. I was able to find one of these at my local stationery store, so it seems to be more common as well.
